The food is always good and the service is always friendly. A difficult combo to find amongst the slim pickings of dining options in this area. However, the service is also always quite slow. So go when you have time to spend on a nice, drawn out meal and want to have a good conversation with your company. They have a big tv in the dining room, which is nice if you want to follow the game on a Sunday afternoon. Brunch is great, dinner is pretty good too. The crab balls are delicious.

I really enjoy the food I get from Darrahs. I typically get sandwiches because that's jus what I do lol and they haven't failed me yet. My fiancé likes their food too. He's been more outgoing with his choices than I have. But yeah for a quick bite in a cosy table near the window, can't beat that.

Great friendly service! They greet and serve you with a smile. The food is prepared to your liking and doesn't take long. We had brunch here and I had the steak and eggs. Each prepared to my liking. Give them a shot!

Not bad at all. This restaurant came up on Yelp as one of the nearby dining options one Saturday morning so my bf and decided to go check out their brunch. The place itself is kinda in the cut (I'm told it used to be a 711 back in the day, which is the only reason why my bf knew exactly where it was) and is pretty quaint. When we arrived we were seated immediately and greeted warmly by the waitress. Service overall was really good -- our coffee cups were never empty!-- and our food (the breakfast platter with sides of pancakes and fruits) was pretty tasty as well. If I were to point out any negatives: 1) there is no free refill on OJ during brunch :-( and 2) despite what the online menu states, they no longer serve waffles, double :-(. Other than that though I really enjoyed the food and service! We will definitely be back!

I go to Darrahs at least one a week, and I don't have any thing to complain about. The service is excellent! Susie (one of the wait staff) is amazing. I go every weekend for brunch. The pancakes and potatoes are yummy. I go for dinner as well, and I can't really say that I have ever been disappointed. Is it a 5 star restaurant no, is it part of a big named chain with restaurants all over the city no. But is it a nice place to run in and get a quick bit to eat. It is great family restaurant with a large menu to choose from.

Had Sunday Brunch. Unique breakfast fare along with the traditional. Will go back again for sure. Service was great.

Great family owned restaurant! I have met the family many times and they are all so humble and really tends to your needs. The food is also so good! Their smothered pork chops are mouth watering and they have such a range in the variety of foods they offer (which is great when you dont know what youre in the mood for). Their weekend brunch I would say is the absolute best! I eat out a lot and I love coming to darrahs, for a nice home cooked meal!

Food, service, ambiance, all of them are good!! I tried the 1lb monster burger( only at $12!! A MUST TRY!!) and it is out of this world.. it's the MOST delicious burger i ever ate. Fresh ingridients and well cooked.

I'm being generous.....should be closer to two. Everything is ok with our dinner....but you can tell they could do better. The microwave seems to be the item of choice. Food may be prepared ahead and heated. Yet the service is slow. Not much flavor but swimming in butter. You can eat here, but don't go out of your way. I base this review on other P.G. County places.....not "downtown".

For lunch I spent $18 for a very good steak and cheese sub ($7.95). Not the best I ever ate but very decent. The cheese was a little skimpy but there was plenty of beef, not the cheapest frozen stuff I don't think. It was tasty and the sautéed onions helped that. I asked for hot peppers and there were a few but not enough. It was on a very good sub roll, perfect size and texture. The meat to bread ratio was perfect. I hate it when restaurants try to fill me up with cheap carbohydrates like a heavy duty bun to compensate for the lack of protein. Ask for extra cheese, if you like a lot of it like i do. If you like it spicy, ask for extra hot peppers also. You can always take some off if there are to many. I had a glass of decent white wine also. There is a full bar but no place to sit at the bar, no stools. There is a shorter Saturday and Sunday menu so check it out first. There are 2 TVs tuned to sports stations. The ladies restroom is clean, always a plus. It seems like an odd spot for a restaurant unless you know the history. The building was originally a 7-Eleven that failed. I've wanted to stop because this place has been here a while. You can not see into the restaurant because to the type of glass used so that is off-putting. However, since I was having lunch with a group, 7 others, that empowered me to overcome my apprehensions. I have seen lots of PG police cars in the parking lot so personal safety is a none issue.

My husband and I used to come here all the time. The reason for even the one star is because of the ambience and the wait staff (Erricka) was super kind and very attentive. I ordered the general tso chicken and literally could not eat it. It was very syrupy sweet and looked like carryout food. This used to be an awesome dish done with care. The chicken looked and tasted awful. My veggies were not crispy but soft and the rice was okay but got drenched with this sugar sauce from the chicken. We are moving on..... no more Darrah's for us.

Our first time to try this restaurant. The service is very good but the food is not impressive at all. I got their seafood pasta special. It is soupy, pasta overdone and the vegetable in it ( can't believe I paid $25 for this). The fried calamari has so much batter and over fried. The lobster bisque tasted like from the can. My husband was disappointed with his anti pasta salad. I don't think there will be a 2nd to Darrahs cafe for us.

The food here is delicious. I've been here several times and have tried just about everything on the menu; I have yet to be disappointed. I'm not sure what some of the other reviews are talking about in reference to the mash potatoes not having any seasoning... it's one of the only places I've been that actually uses actual garlic instead of just the powder.

This placed is always packed in the weekends so I'll travel to the harbor if need be. Dining options over here are limited. This place has a bit of everything. I usually get the cheesesteak with potato chips. It's my neighborhood goto.

I enjoyed lunch here with a colleague the other day. Well, I enjoyed it, but my colleague didn't touch her sandwich, but I couldn't figure out why....who doesn't like grilled turkey and cheese? I odered the ham and cheese panini with tomatoes and onions added, and they were, but I also got a lovely surprise schmear of pesto, which I quite liked, but it wasn't in the menu description. Basically, it was a fancy grilled cheese and not pressed like a true panini, but it was pretty tasty. Fries were a little limp, but hey they're fries and the only reason I typically eat fries is to transport ketchup into my gullet. AND, yes I can admit that (the exception being truly great sweet potato fries)! The location is easy to access with plenty of parking. The ambience is LOVELY and wholly unexpected from what the external building looks like (for some reason reminds me of a strip club from the outside - I dunno why). The menu is completely random, which I found endearing. The service, when it was around was friendly and helpful. There aren't a whole lot of choices in Ft. Washington, but this appears to be a nice ma-n-pop kinda joint. Give it a try. You might find something you like, and you'll feel extra safe with all the police officers rolling in to pick up their lunches!

I really like this place. The staff is GREAT, the food is delish, the atmosphere is lacking but it seems clean. I hope this place does well, since it isn't ever very busy. The drinks are good. I highly recommend for a close place for a good meal.

It's been awhile since my husband and I have eaten here but sometimes we get a hankering for their General Tso's. I'm on the fence between the 2 & 3 stars. I do like this dish but they have gotten cheap by using generic white overlooked rice that taste no different than the cheap rice at the nearby Chinese takeout. The sauce from the dish was all over the place and dripped all over the other containers and inside the bag. The mixed vegetables were okay but soggy because sauce was everywhere. The biggest disappointment was my kids's meal. He just wanted a simple grilled cheese which is on the menu. The cheese was barely melted and the bread was nutritionally cheap white bread. It just was not good. He took no more than 2 bites. The fries were all brown and hard. Thanks for giving him the bottom of the shaft! It was a waste of money. The menu also says free cookies are given with a kids meal- no cookie here. Fort Washington has such slim pickings in good eats, and you can't assume people are desperate enough to put up with mediocre. Please take the time to go back and care about what your serving.

Came in for the first time for Sunday brunch and it was great. Staff is super friendly and attentive. Food was delicious and plentiful. All with a price you just can't beat. Definitely would recommend Darrahs.

Great local Fort Washington spot. Less expensive than Proud Mary and WAY better food. The menu is hodge podgy, but somehow it all manages to be delicious. Had steak and cheese there - yummy. Had General Tso's Chicken several times - double yummy! Onion rings are also delicious too! See what I mean - hodge pody... Try it out - you won't be sorry!

This place is the absolute worst. When they first opened; the food was just ok, but I supported them because I truly wanted them to last. Over the last couple of years, the service has declined and the food has gone from ok to horrible! Tonight 4/30/2013; I decided to call in an order of crab cakes and calamari; my usual, bad mistake. I had specifically asked that they please lower the salt content on all of my items. That did not happen. This is a request I have made many times, and each time my request is overlooked. The calamari tasted as though it had sat all day and was reheated and re-salted. In fact the food was so salty; I could not eat it, made my throat hurt. $34 wasted, and the food went in the trash. I am so sick of this place that I look forward to their closing. I don't mind spending money on good food, but this place is anything but good. Perhaps, they have become accustom to the same customers, and basically feel they don't have work for their customers. Consider me gone, no longer will I stop by to pick up a quick dinner, and waste anywhere between $30 & $80 on their crappy food.

somehow always end up here because its so close and my husband likes it but the food doesn't cut it for me..it's either tasteless or too salty. Their pancakes on the weekend brunch menu are pretty good so I gave them 2 stars. There used to be a few really friendly and nice teenagers working there but now...I don't know...the service is pretty in and out and the quality of the food...eh...not that great.
